“I don't recognize myself. I don't know who I am anymore. And it's all fun and games until someone loses an I.” – Don Winslow, Author
How Can You Be Yourself,
When You Don't Know Who You Are Anymore?
Often, we focus on what is happening on the outside: career, relationships, achievements, appearances, money.
But sometimes it's about what isn't happening - what's on the inside. The dreams we did not pursue. The truths we are not expressing. The live unlived.
These detours take you further and further away from yourself, leaving you feeling empty; unsatisfied; critical of yourself and emotionally numb.
Most therapy focuses on who you think you are: your conscious identity with all its fear, doubt, guilt, and shame. It seeks to better that self in some way, so that your life edges closer to your idea of perfection.
Therapy with me supports you in doing something far more radical: looking beyond the struggle at the treasure that lies beneath. Accessing the wisdom in your suffering. Learning how to navigate what is uncertain and uncomfortable. Having the courage to create a life aligned with what matters most to you.
There are no smoke and mirrors. Therapy is not about giving you answers. It's about helping you discover your own. Learn to see yourself. Find what was lost. Retrieve what was left behind.
If you are ready to take this courageous step, contact me for more info. I'm a good fit for curious, observant, and insightful people who feel that the old ways of coping aren't working any more.
Together, we will find you, if you desire to be found.
About Lourdes Viado
Therapy with me differs from other therapists in that there is a focus on your unconscious life. What does that mean? To put it simply, think of an image of an iceberg. The part of the iceberg that lies above the water is what is conscious. That is what you are aware of. You are aware that you are reading these words or that you are sitting in a chair.
